Tectonic SHIFT • Dynamics of Change

The juried exhibition “Tectonic SHIFT • Dynamics of Change” was held at the Denver Civic Center’s McNichols Building in early 2017. Bobbi Walker conceptualized the exhibit and invited artist to submit installations that explored the concept of rapid societal and natural change. The exhibit was covered by the Denver Post.

Schminke Artist Statement
To some, modern times suggest never-before-seen changes and conflict as a tectonic shift. Nature tells a different story of re-occurring cycles of destruction and renewal. Here, flowing grasses are presented both in their lustrous prime, and in their beautiful decline, while a backlit panel drives the sense of power, change…and potential.

“Rhythm is the basis of life, not steady forward progress. The forces of creation, destruction, and preservation have a whirling, dynamic interaction.” (Kabbalah)
